what are the differences between royal icing, fondant, and steamed butter icing ??

selalunye customer yg dtg akan cakap 'sy nk kek icing'.sy reply ' kek icing '? die jawab ' yeah.i nak kek icing.yg keras tu.yg cantik tu'...'kak..yg keras tu tu kite pnggil fondant.kek yg disalut dgn chewy layer sugar;. ' x,x,x...i nk icing.'

well friends, mmg susah nk educate sesetengah orng yg pk icing tu fondant.fondant tu icing.hm..so, what i want to do today is..nk educate ckit ttg ape tu icing, fondant and steamed butter icing.

FONDANT - Adunan yang terdiri daripada gelatin, sugar, water and etc.very chewy and maleable icing tht dries hard.the fondant would be rolled not too thick or thin and laid over the cake. boleh jgk tekap buat sugar flower as long as u ade acuannye.contoh fondant cake ade byk kt atas tu.

ROYAL ICING - white beaten egg plus sugar and it can be used to paste fondant.additionally, royal icing can also be used to decorate cookies.

STEAMED BUTTER ICING - usually,i akan letak steamed butter icing atas cupcakes.


  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 5 pasteurized egg whites (the kind sold refrigerated in a carton)
  • Pinch of cream of tartar
  • 1 pound (4 sticks) unsalted butter, chilled
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
